God, Where Are You? – The Silence of the Lord
Our brains are equipped with mirror neurons that allow us to understand the feelings of others, including experiencing the negative emotions of those who are grieving while we listen to them. We may unconsciously try to avoid this, rushing to dismiss their pain and distress by offering various solutions, hoping to pull them out of their negativity.
When we cry out, the Lord sometimes remains silent. Could it be that He is listening, willing to accept and hold all our feelings, and tasting the "bitterness" with us, so that we may come to a deeper understanding of ourselves and of Him—the God who is full of compassion?
